This development is one of two workforce housing communities that together provide 73 affordable homes, contributing to the long-term revitalization of the Sharswood neighborhood.
Constructed on the former site of the Norman Blumberg Apartments—a public housing complex that stood for over 50 years before being demolished in 2016—Bucknell Square represents a key milestone in the area’s transformation. This project is part of the broader Sharswood Blumberg Choice Neighborhood Initiative, supported by a $30 million Implementation Grant awarded to the City of Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Housing Authority in 2020.
