Ed Ellis is a seasoned Project Manager with over 30 years’ experience in the heavy commercial construction business. He has served several world class clients whose facilities include hotels, condominiums, hospitals, schools, Federal courthouses, municipal buildings, office buildings, office fit outs, Precast – Cast in Place – Filigree Plank parking structures, Philadelphia Housing Authority renovations, and multi-family construction. Ed recently worked for Hill International and had a lead role in Capital Improvement and Increased Capacity Projects for the City of New York Department of Education in Lower Manhattan. These projects include complete remodels, renovations, exterior modifications, new roof assemblies, mechanical renovations, life safety system replacements, generators, and post sandy flood mitigation.
Prior to working for Hill International, Ed was one of two project managers for LF Driscoll responsible for the on-time completion of 52 floors of fit-out for Comcast Center at 1735 Market St. in Philadelphia. The fit-out project consisted of a separate team from the base building working directly for Comcast. Due to the clients move in schedule, much of the fit-out work proceeded concurrently with the base building construction and had to be carefully coordinated. His primary focus was the top 10 amenity and executive floors of the building while his partner project manager worked on all the typical floors.
Prior to LF Driscoll, Ed worked for Keating Building Corporation and Mellon Stuart Construction with roles ranging from project engineer, hard bid estimator, superintendent and project manager. He started in the business as an intern participating in a summer work program in partnership between the General Building Contractors Association of New Jersey and New Jersey Institute of Technology’s College of Engineering. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Technology from the New Jersey Institute of Technology and an Associates in Drafting and Design at Mercer County Community College. He graduated Engineering School with honors from the National Engineering Honor Society of Tau Alpha Pi.
Ed is married with two grown children. His daughter lives in Atlanta, GA, and his son is serving overseas with the United States Marine Corps. When not building, he could be found surf fishing, hanging by the shore at LBI or by the pool, riding bikes, and his Suzuki Motorcycle. However, more often than all of that, you could find him taking an afternoon nap under a shade tree in the back yard with his Basset Hound named Bear.
