MICHAEL TESTER
Owner / President
Michael Tester has over twenty years of experience in the building industry including architectural design, cost estimating, procurement, and project management for some of the largest projects in the Philadelphia area. During this time, he has overseen the construction of over 5,000 apartment units, 500,000 SF of office space, and large scale demolition and site work developments in Philadelphia, New York City, Boston, and Florida.
Mike started Tester Construction Group in 2017 to capitalize on the evolution and growth of the Philadelphia commercial mixed use construction market in Philadelphia. Since that time, he has led TCG to becoming one of the largest General Contractor’s in the City in less than 5 years. TCG completed over $100M of construction volume in only their 5th full year in business.
Mike credits the growth of his company, to the fantastic team that works alongside him – the top construction management team in the City.
Prior to starting Tester Construction Group, Mike served as a Senior Estimator and Project Manager for Hunter Roberts Construction Group for over 5 years in both New York City and Philadelphia. During this time, he estimated, purchased, and managed some of the largest projects in Philadelphia at Drexel University and the University of Pennsylvania. After working at Hunter Roberts, Mike became the Vice President of Operations for MLP PA Builders (a subsidiary of O’Neill Properties Group). At MLP, Mike was responsible for the entire construction operation for the company including Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, and Massachusetts.
At any given time, he managed over $500 million of construction volume. Mike holds a Bachelor of Science from Penn State University and a Master’s Degree from New York University in Construction Management.
Mike is also actively involved in multiple charities and community initiatives which he dedicates a significant amount of his time. These include TCGives (TCG’s nonprofit organization created to support pancreatic cancer research) and Habitat for Humanity (Board of Directors member).
When Mike isn’t managing TCG, he is spending time with his family, traveling, skiing, and going to Philadelphia Union games.
